Sometimes when we’re watching a red carpet event on TV, like the recent Golden Globes 2015 event, we see a celebrity wearing an item of jewellery that is so stunning we can’t take our eyes off it. Sometimes it’s the beauty of it, and more often than not, it’s the sheer size of the piece that captures our attention. For example, Amal Clooney’s magnificent diamond earrings:

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that they’re arresting.
But even Amal’s earrings don’t hold a candle to some of the other jewellery that has been sold at auction over the years.
For example, one famous example is Wallis Simpson’s Panther Bracelet, which is made of onyx and diamond and was owned by the Duke and Duchess of Windsor once upon a time.

It sold for a whopping $12.4 million at auction, which is a massive amount of money, but doesn’t even come close to the most expensive item of jewellery ever sold at auction, which was the Graff Pink. This fancy pink intense diamond sold for $46.2 million at auction. It is round-cornered, rectangular step cut. It is mounted on a platinum ring with a shield-shaped diamond on each side of it. It is 24.78 carats and is simply beautiful. Have a look below:
